got flex or not?????
i put my dakars all round on my lux today. i can ramp it up on a 65cm obstacle and still had all wheels touching. is this a fair score?????? my rears arent working properly as the shackles are sitting vertical on flat ground. they have said there is nothing they can do about this so im sending them back.
sierra truggy,37 sticky treps,propane,6.5s and disconnect,lux diffs with spools,16" fox shox,hydro steer.
Nothing they can do hey? Thats nonsense.
Give us some more info dude.
What setup are you running? Lifted springs and extended shackles?
Basically...
If your shackle angle is too verticle and not like \
then either your leaf springs are too short or stiff for the shackle length
you are running, or in extreme cases, you need to move the top
shackle mount forward on the chassis to accomodate.
Go outside and look at it. If you...
Make the springs longer, the shackle will splay out at the bottom... \
OR
Leave the springs, and move the top of the shackle forward... \
Cheapest option, buy some leaves of the back an IFS hilux,
whack them in the back.
You will get more flex then, so you might need longer shockies too, and
brake lines. and mount your shockies like this /\
too easy huh!
Flexes better and the ride is alot nicer now!
Cheers,
Bart

The Lux is back. New and Improved v2.0!
ok
thanks mate, yeah ive been arguing with ARB all week that they arent right. the shackle sits |on flat ground but is slowly settling back a bit. They want me to leave them in for a week and see. My nextdoor neighbour is an engineer so i was thinking of getting him to whack the shackle mounts forward a bit. IFS rears would push it all to far back for my tub, i havent got a tray???????The dakars are a 4 leaf then 2 overloads with standard shackles. thanks........any ideas anyone???the front dakars im happy with, but the shock they put on without asking me is too short so once again im sending them in too, i havent paid for none of it yet til im happy.

Are they standard length rear springs? are they standard shackles? IFS rears and 200mm e2e shackles will give you what you want in the rear. i havent tried this myself but you could redrill the spring perch at the rear and this will bring the axle forward 30mm or so, so it should bring the axle back to the standard position, but youll need to do a u-bolt flip and modify the plate to accomodate the spring pin. Ive done this on the front of mine to bring it forward but have run into the same spring pin problem.

Some options for tub back rear springs - Use Mazda Bravo springs. As long as the IFS's but no movement to the diff location. I use stds with lift blocks but you may be able to get lifted ones. I havent tried to find out. Flexy, longer and no worries about wheel arch positioning.
Explore this and see how you go. If you are going to play with re-drilling DONT REDRILL THE SPRINGPACK. It weakens it and breaks. You could redrill diff perch and then modify u bolt plates (if flipped) to accomodate as suggested or retain std U bolts and just redrill perches but again, i havn't really explored this option as i found and easier way around it.

thanks for all info fellas. heres a shot of it ramping this arvo, both front and rear shocks are at full extension but they are only a trial from ARB, so i can tell them now what im after.........Ill perhaps look into playing these games with springs at a later date. oh, so you know, they are 2" OME dakars, not ifs, standard shackles.

Looks good dude.
Flexes OK for the mods done, but if your shockies are maxing out,
you should really get longer ones if possible. Are they at full upward compression on that obstacle? Also check your brake lines have plenty
of length in them. This is something I totally forgot about at first when
I was building up my luxie.
you can look at getting some shock hoops up front so you can
run decent length eye-to-eye shock absorbers too.
Makes a hell of a difference.
Cheers,
Bart

yeah it aint bad, the front shockies are full open and so is the brakeline,it is 30mm off full compression and 20mm of the bumpstops.
now the rear, on that shot it is fully opened, still have 60mm upward in shock and was 60mm from bumpstop. i dont think i could ever hit the bumpstop cos i still have my overload leaves in for now. i think they will be coming out soon, or atleast 1. Just wanna get my shackles / a bit and lengthen them to match and ill be happy. Nothing a locker and tyres wont help.
