stripped axle spline

Post by DAWSO 4x4 »

went out driving today and lost drive to the front passanger side we wern't sure what it could be as there were no clunks or bangs then after a bit of thought it had to be a cv only to find that it was the axle spline had been stripped and the cv star was cracked just wondering if its common for the spline to strip as i'm thinking of up grading cv's and wondering if i should up grade the axles as well

You`d find the star split, then opened up enough for the axle to turn inside it, which stripped the splines.

I run a pair of the origanl longs and haven`t done an axle yet.

yes they are ;) If you upgrade your CVs to 30 spline longfields, then you'll be upgrading your axles too :D
