Oddly enough i can't find very much on suspension in the bible. anyhoo i just bought a hj61 (260k on the clock for $7500-heh heh) and the rear springs are looking a bit sad. i want to put all new springs and shocks in it and give it a 2 inch lift. i drive a lot of sand where i live but my holiday destinations involve a lot of rocky, uneven washout type stuff. I want to avoid that horrible looking sag in the rear end when i put all my gear in it (not excessive amounts really) and fill both tanks. what sort of setup should i go with? I get the impression that an SPOA is mainly for full-on hardcore type 4wding and equates to about a 4 inch lift? if so that's not what i'm chasing-
. i guess i'm after a good compromise between flex, load carrying ability and comfort. (not maximum articulation like many others here )
any suggestions? prices?

SPOA is not just for 'hardcore' rigs' it give's better high, flex, clearance, better ride (IMHO). a SPOA is not 4inch, it depends on how falt or arched ya spring's are. if you spring over on standard leafs i think its more like 5 or 6 inch's. also depends what you do with ya shackel's.
no matter what ya do, if you go over bout 2inch you'll need new brake line's, diff breather's and if ya go SPOA you might need new sharft's front and rear (not really sure, probly wrong).
if it was leagal in QLD i would have done a SPOA conversion by now.
sounds like you'd probly be better of with a 2inch Heavy Duty lift. off the shelf product. price ring around i'm sure you'll get a good idea.
who will ber installing it???

A 2" lift would be a good start for you I would say. If you want to go more hardcore than that, do it later. OME do a cheaper 2" kit now that they have Enforcer springs. You won't need to change brake lines etc with up to a 3" lift.

I have a 3" lift on mine, but I did that with 2" springs and 1" lift shackles. I haven't had to make any mods to brake lines or anything like that.
