if running 6 hp motor use large solynoids on in side. see ARB thay list these for there hi mount 6 hp model or use 4 small ones for in as these cant carry amps using only 2 or talk to david matcalf at extreme 4x4 sport .com.au for a one peice unit that we are all starting to use now. use large leads as posible to solynoid and winch with earth direct to motor. the shaft that has the brake on it needs the circlip removed, end of shaft drilled and taped so a spacer/boss can be fitted because the clip blows off under extreme use, metcalf can help here.replace brake ballbearings with stainless.weld brace on back edge of gearbox and the drum support on oppisite end so threaded rod can run from one side to other, top and bottom. this braces it together and stops cable looping over the end and smashyng it.[ look at warn low mount bracing] keep solynoid close to moter. now you can run 24 volt into 12 volt motor, use another alternator and batteries to create its own system,BUT when you run in or out on 12v or 24v with no load, pulse the power.holding power on full under no load creats such G force and heat, it can throw out the solder from the com, stuffing one motor. hope this helps, i have spent lots $$$$$ working this out doing winch challanges over the years. now we are lengthing the drums and keeping the fairleads 20mm shorter each end so as to reduce bunch up, but keeping the same length cable/rope,less layers, more pulling power.
