the winch weighs in at 50kg, and the bumper at another 50. With the plastic rope and aluminium fairlead (due in a month), I should gain a couple of degrees more in the approach angle department, and loose 10-12 Kgs.

The SMBs (Shackle Mounting Brackets) are also used for recovery. At one point this past Saturday I had a dual snatch block rigged on the left one. Each one is rated at 3 tons LIFTING, so I think they'll do the job pretty well. The bolts are grade 8, along with THICK BIG washers and the plate is 8mm. Don't think they're going anywhere.

i don't know about 3 ton lifting.....
the forces involved in kinetic recovery i.e. snatching...would far exceed the 3 ton mark..
high school science - f (force)=mass x acceleration
that is just opinion... i want something that can handle at least 5 ton to snatch...and will only snatch for light boggings ... prefer winching... safer and more controlled......
sorry i'm going off topic again
