air-con compressor compatability

need a new compressor for my air- con on the GQ, it has a TB42E motor and the compressor to suit that brand new is around $950 supply only. Trade price.

I noticed when looking at the guy's catalouge upside down that they share the same compressor as the RB30 model GQ's.

does this mean i could get one off say a VL calais?

or would a bracket change allow me to buy the more common one off the carby model gq's?

Just had a look at th compressor on my Rb30 engine. The Compresor bolts to a bracket which bolts to the block. If thats of any help. Think you will have to look at commador.

I got my A/C rebuilt for about 300 I think. Still not cheap but it has all new internals and came back looking like new. Just another option.

I am not sure where it will be, but absodefinitely your air con compressor is also found on other jap vehicles. Pulley and bracket will be different, but you've got those. There will be lots in wrecking yards for $40 each that will be in perfect working order. There aren't that many different models in use and they all have the same basic task to do anyway (although capacities vary of course).

I'd go looking around pick-a-part and see if you can find one the same. But I would have thought someone here would know what model it is already... hmm.

You don't need a new one, just a working one.

Do you know what model compressor it is? The GQ's (at least the TD42's - or the ones I have seen) usually came out with CoolTemp aftermarket A/C with a Sanden 7H15 compressor on them.

the one that is on it has an Ingram label on the back and a number.

When i gave the air con mob that number he said it wasn't an Ingram part number, possibly a Nissan Part number, so , might not be much help.

That sounds suspiciously like a Zexel / Kiki part number - although no current reference to it.

I was hoping it would be a Cooltemp or Sanden P/N as were fitted to the TD42 Patrols as non-genuine air, which use a Sanden 7H15 series pumps which are as common as dirt, and a whole lot cheaper than the Zexel (less than 1/2 of what you were quoted).
