Hasn't Maggot changed the Patrol axles out and replaced them with Landcruiser axles for the offset rear diff to remove the vibrations caused by the Patrols centered rear diff?
Cheers

due to the location of your pumpkin it may be easier to transplant gearbox/transfer case as well and obtain a bellhousing to mate your rover engine to your nissan gearbox.

No need to yell. What in particular do you want to know? It is almost a straight bolt in job.

Maggot

I am still in two minds whether to fork out the dough for maxi axles & lockers or go with nissan axle swap.

What you have done looks fairly straight forward.

Is the nissan axles assembly wider then the Rangie? I wish to run 35's so to do so on rangie axles means - axle upgrade, 4.1CWP, off set wheels.

Will the nissan set up eleviate the need for offset wheels to fit 35's? I already have 2" spring and 2" body and rangie flares...

Cheers

go nissan...worth it...I didn't have vib issues with rear shaft, front I had to go double cardin

I'm selling my diff casings and suspension arms from my 84 RR to suit GQ conversions (no centres or axles though)

No it doesn't.

HIJACK and I have been running 35s and now 37s on 3.54 standard diffs and axels for a while now.

Mine is fully stock and he has a maxi locker and axels in the rear. Nissan axels are stronger, sure, but the strength of the CVs is about the same. Why not look at a toy centre conversion and McNamara axels.

86MUD...I have a RR front end with maxi axels and Haultech CVs if you are interested in buyng it. All you would need then is the locking actuator and air lines.

Yes, you gain a bit of width, about 2", but enough to notice. You will need new wheels if you go the Nissan swap, and a decent set of flares.

The front bolts straight in, the rear needs some mod work.

If I was to do it all again, I would go GQ front and 80 series rear.

For the front end, GQ is by far the easiest, it is just bolt in, make a steering arm, block a brake pipe, redrill the pinion flange and your done.

For the rear, I would go 80 series, due to the offset of the diff and the fact they are full floaters

mmm intresting i never knew the nissan front was a bolt in swap. what ratios are around for the nissan and is the 80 rear hard to swap over and does it come in same ratios as the nissan? i lost all front drive on the weekend and was thinking of doing a 24 spline rover swap but not sure if its worth it. i was ramping it up and it just went bang stock rubber ect weak as piss

In standard form AFAIK-

Nissan (3.9, 4.1, 4.3, 4.6)

80's (4.1, 4.3)

Think the 100's is 4.3? And can fit a bundera front aswell which is 4.5

Aftermarket I believe you can get 4.88 or close enough for each.

Easiest to find in each would be the 4.1's

The GU stuff is pricey due to the fact all the comp guys want them, you should be able to get a GQ front diff for about $400-500. An 80 rear should be about the same. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=67541

There is a bit of welding to do for the rear. Either keep the rover stuff like I have and weld it to the diff housing, or make up new mounts on the chassis to accept the toyota stuff.

I like the way the rover suspension works so I went the former.
