But i didnt come up with much so im stealing this post. Has anyone done a buggy leaf set up on their rocky or does anyone have any info that will help. They look fairly easy to do, also what are some pros and cons that may be to this mod. thanxs guys
OK......prior to my SPOA conversion, I had 3/4 elliptical set-up on the rear of my Feroza. This was done by getting a main leaf from a donor vehicle, cutting it in half (bugger of a job), drilling holes in both the leaf spring and chassis and mounting the spring upside down. Attached to main suspension with smallish shackle at the free end.

I didn't like the ride that it gave, too soft !! too mobile !!......but Yeah, it had great articulation. Not advisable to do anything at speed, especially cornering.

I reckon you'd be better off going coil set-up..4 link or something.you will get a much nicer ride on and off road.

Sorry, I couldn't be bothered scanning piccie of my set-up......lost in bottom of cupboard.

IMO - NOT RECOMMENDED.and you won't get it engineered anywhere

cheers! Besty.

the thing is i didnt plan on getting engineering tickets unless the cops pick me up in wich case i would have to decide on what way i was to go (lets hope it doesnt come to that, touch wood!)

i was looking for an easy way to gain more flex, coil conversion involves alot of work and $$$. The bugy leaf will give better flex than standard and cost nada to do. surley wouldnt be all that hard to make something up to secure the top leaf close to the chassi for on road use & then i could just let the top leaf hang when i plan on going of road where i need the flex, what do you think?

this mod then would alow much longer springs to be fitted right?? coz then i could use my old springs as the donor springs.
