Hi,
I'm new to pajero's and want to learn more... I've come across what seems a very honest manual 1991 LWB Pajero [series 2?] with a 2.5 turbo diesel engine. I'm wanting it for long distance touring and pay and play days.
What i'd like to know is:
what are the weak points in these vehicles?
are they IFS front end or live axle?
what's the auto engage on the front axle like? [I'm used to manual locking hubs]
previously i've driven range rovers, land cruisers and patrols and so am very new to these cars.
finally what are aftermarket parts like? I'd like to put 33" tires on and given the type of offroading that i do would need to lift the vehicle about 3" to get very decent ramp over ange.
thanks
Harv

New to Pajero's...

Hi Harvey
I don't know much about the diesel motor, but someone else will be able to chime in. Here's what I can help ya with:
All Pajeros are IFS (originally )
The auto engage on the front hubs works well, but using manual hubs will reduce wear on your CV's
You should be able to fit 33's with a 2" lift. You can't really go higher that that due to the IFS. Standard Nissan Patrol springs are a popular & cheap way to do this mod.
Check out the bible at the top of this tech section, there's heaps of info to browse through, you'll be an expert on the Paj's in no time

you mean that many are converted to live alxe? Is this a relatively straight forward thing to do?Hekta wrote:

who does manual hubs for the pajeros?Hekta wrote: The auto engage on the front hubs works well, but using manual hubs will reduce wear on your CV's
also any idea on engine power/torque outputs for the 2.5 diesel? I had a look at the bible but could't find specific answers to these questions.
thanks for your help

Not many - some. I'd classify it as a relatively major job. Read "The Jabber Renaissance Project - SAS" at the top of the Mitsubishi section.harvey wrote:you mean that many are converted to live alxe? Is this a relatively straight forward thing to do?Hekta wrote:
