dropped spring mounts

Post by rockcrawler31 »

can anyone tell me if the dropped spring mounts available from various places are legal in qld.

i'm talking about the 2" dropped mounts that weld to the chassis. if they arre done by a qualified welder, can they be blue plated?

I've already done extended shackles on the front, and was considering the mounts to level up the original spring mounting points to get another inch. (might help my castor too)

it's either that or shell out for the longer springs and put in castor wedges.

if i need to lengthen the front driveshaft, can i put in a spacer at either the diff or the gear box, and where could i get one?

As for the dropped hangers I am not sure apparently if you are SASing a vehicle they are allowed but if its already a solid axle they aren't -Go Figure? well thats my understanding.

thanks for that.

so you can go and rip the entire front end off and reengineer it, but not a single component - go figure

Probably cos you gotta weld spring hangers on anyway. Still doesn't make sense though, if it's engineered for SAS it should be ok for an existing solid axle :?
Was thinking of dropping the hangers on the rear of mine too for a bit more lift, I'm a certified welder, would still need engineers approval but then I thought "f**k it", extend my old shackles :D The original Holden ones are meatier than the pissy greasables I was supplied with the new springs and 6mm longer.
