80 Series Windscreen Issue

Post by BLC »

Hi all,

my problem is that my windscreen appears to be leaking on the passenger side at the top. The water is dripping through the seal at the top of the windscreen as well as some how making it down the A pillar and onto the carpet.

I got quoted $160 through my work for a new windscreen and seal fitted.
but im a bit suspect for rust being the reason its leaking

questions:
should i pay the $160, and organise to be there to see the extent of the rust?

just send if off to a panel beaters and tell em to fix it?

is this a common problem?

thanks in advance

Can't you get them to take the old one out and refit it? It'll cost you alot less than a new windscreen and you'll also find out if it is rust or not. I haven't heard of rust being a common problem around the windscreen in the 80 series.

hi ive got the same problem with mine seems to be rust. youve probably got a build up under the rubber try lifting the edge of the rubber a little you should be able to see some rusty buildup there . but i wouldnt pay 160 for new one .if its not rust then they should just be able to clean the old one and refit it . rear screens are normally the worst for rust keep an eye on this aswell.hope this helps muds
