supension winch pulleys

A Q for thoses with supension winchs, where did u get your pulleys from? what are they used for? what are the called? what did the cost?.

I tried ever where to day and no one could help me and had know idea where i could get one from, they had pulleys for belts and chains, but none for cable.

All im after is a pulley for 6mm cable

Good luck Shane. I couldnt find anything that was going to be suitable. Remember they need to cop shock loading as well. And they realy need to have a fairly deap cable grove in them. Boof uses a tensioner pully and bearing from an AC kit. I just use a 1/2" Grade 8 bolt with a cone lock on it and dont do it up tight(thats why i use the cone lock) Just a couple of tags of the housing and the bolt. You will also need to make a guide to stop the cable from jumping sideways and going around your tags. I just used a U shaped piece of 16x5 flat mounted about 5mm above the bolt.

shane i 'd use the adjust'a pully for a 2h motor [ the main belt tencher that sits between the w/pump and crank pully] thats what i have in there now and works great .its a bit bulky but strong .i'll see if i can get a pic for u .

mine sounds the same as ruff's, but i machined a bit of delrin into a roller with a groove in it. works well.

a skatebord wheel with a groove machined in it would be a good way to go. they come with their own bearings and spacers..

don't bother with any stainless boat pulleys either, mine detonated at the swivel after a day's use.

i saw some today at air and lift gear in maroochydore. they are ranging 50 - 100 oddmm in dia. deep cable groove, suit 1/2 bolt roughly. think they were $18 each. if they are unsuitable is the obvious choice not a snatch block. they are cheap enough and should easily be up to the task.

at work we use "v" grooved bearings for straightening our wire the "v" is about 10mm wide and 5mm deep.
