I am looking at options for increase power/ fuel economy on my 4.5litre petrol 80 Series (1995).
One is replacing the factory fan system with thermo fans.
Has anyone done it and what is the best way?
Problems i see is water crossings, dust etc on the electrics
Anyones advise or comments would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Thermo Fan for 80 series

Factory Toyota 4b's have great cooling systems standard , and cant be improved apon, a clutch/viscous fan does exactly what the cooling system need sucks real hard when needed and free runs as required. There is no way i would tamper with it, leave well alone and put the time money into tyres, suspension etc.

THERES ONLY ONE SUBSTITUTE FOR CUBES AND THATS MORE and if you want more inchs stroke it !!!!!!!!!!!
agree with wally, after having tried to "improve" cooling system performance with electric fans, the engine power gain is minimal (almost non existant) and there is usually a decrease in cooling system performace. There are a few ways to squeeze a little more power out of your engine (fiddle with the ignition timing + use expensive fuel, free flowing exhaust etc) but electric fans are a waste of time and money
