articulation

Post by ofr57 »

ok since the lj80 idea is out the window since the back springs are set out wide which will cause them to be more stiffl I'm back to the idea of a serria

the thing i want do is get the max articulation

NT zook with WT zook diffs is the new plan

but for the suspension i cant change the mounts and the max lift is 4 inchs

ideas i got
standard .. 2' spring , 2' BL
2" spring , 2" shackles

other ideas i got to keep the centre gravity down but still walk
3 or 4" shackles and costom springs to make shackles 45deg
2' spring , climax
3" costom springs (45), climaxs

any others ideas .... and input would be great

if you cant chnge the mounts then you cannot put widetrack diffs under a narrowtrack.

many people in the suzuki club running spring under have a combination of 2inch shackles=1 inch of lift, lifted springs. OME are pretty flexy.

Rear springs in the front. will give you more flex the longer the spring the flexier. to get anything out of the increased travel in the springs you will require extended shock towers to run longer shocks.

and bodylift trimming and bumpstopping to fit tyres.

many people in the club run them and are happy. they are also pretty cheap at $100 a corner. to run 33inch tyres with spring under you will have to make space at the firewall. most people do this by moeving the diff forward. you could do this by drilling a hole further back on the spring mount. but I imaging this would affect castor. otherwise rear springs up front can be done with longer shackles. Most people fit the longer springs with a chassis extension.

Maybe consider a bolt on RUF and 3/4 rear?

flex

Post by SiKiD_01 »

this is my mate's sierra we are building.

it has stock rear springs all round, chassis extention at the front, 45deg shocks at rear, soon to be shock towers on the front, spoa, WT.

here are some pics without shocks and some 31" simex ETs. we have also changed the rear leaf pack to allow more flex (up travel) and since the pics, we can stuff the rear tyres into the guards.

the front sits higher than the rear atm, but we will be making up some longer shackles for the front and rear. (or some experimental folding shacles for the rear)

MIne has 2" extenderd shackles and about an inch and half in the springs. Got a fair bit of articulation but would want more! only running 30's at the moment but could fit 31's. The gearing is bad enough with 30's let alone 31's.

Yeh tell me bout it, the stock gearings shit enough with the origional 26's letalone 30's. Even with 30's dont think of trying to get over rock ledges n stuff without getting some reduced gearing.
