Stinky something!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by HiluxDave »

Was at black duck the a few weeks ago.
Cut a long story short, was giving the lux a bit of curry trying to get up a severely rutted track. wheels off the ground etc with front and rear lockers in.

All of a sudden a really bad stink came through the car. like rotting flesh.

It stopped its forward movement and revved like all hell, so i reversed down and the smell dissappeared almost immediately.

its a 99' 3L diesel. It gets serviced very regularly and has had lots of thousands spent on it.

tried the same track in worse condition yesterday and did it without a trouble.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The "revving without motion" sounds like clutch trouble. But I wouldn't describe the smell as "rotting flesh"...

Hydrogen Sulphide is also known as "rotten egg gas" - but I can't think how you'd have it in a diesel.

Start budgeting for a new clutch.
