thought id post some pics of the drawer system i have been making over the last few months. all up cost me about $650.
the main framework, including drawers and fridge can be unbolted(4 bolts) and slid out of the back of the truck. side pods unbolt from the framework first.
have made the side pods accessable from the rear seats so that my daughter can store her dvd player, game boy etc in them.
have still to add some side panels and rig the wiring up for the fridge etc, but getting there.

I have been wanting to build one for a while. If I ever get done with the repairs to the truck I might be able to start on adding the things I want to it, lol.
My only concern with one that high is that I would loose the ability to haul large cargo. But yours looks like it would come out pretty easy if you needed too!! I don't think a wood framed one would disassemble nearly as easily as yours would.

Could you please detail the contructions a little bit. It looks like your using metal struts and channel. Is it welded together or all bolted or rivited together?
I would love to try and build one of these for my truck.

yes. the main part of the system is removed from the truck by unbolting 4 bolts and sliding it out. the side pods are attached to the main frame by six bolts each, so they have to be removed first. the cargo barrier has been cut and shut, and is bolted to the top of the framework. i recon it would all be removed from the truck in about 20 mins.
the runners were sourced from a company called HAFELE. think they have offices in all states. they have a good web site, which shows all there gear. they supply the building trade.
they are rated to 160kg/pair and extend out to 800mm. you can get all different lengths. they were approx $100 pair from memory.
i have the drawings for the main framework and drawers and also the dimensions of the cargo area on 'autocad', and i could also print and scan the drawings if anybody wants the plans ?
glad you all like it, it keeps the wife happy with everything having a home now. weight approx 100kg's.

the framework is fabricated up from 19x35x1.6 galv tubing, with the drawer runner mounting plates being 3mm plate.
30x30 tubing is attached to the floor and 30x30 angle iron atached to the btm of the framework. this locates the frame in the same position, and allows it to be slid out when being removed. eventually i will make a wheeled frame for the system to slide onto when removed, as it is a bit awkward to lift out by hand.
side pods were 0.8 galv sheet formed up and fabricated together.
inside carpet non uv protected marine carpet, with the outer carpet being uv protected.
