swapping a long range tank over

i was just wondering if there is much mucking around to swap a long range tank from a 1984 rangie into an 1988rangie, as im looking at a straight swap with my standard 80ltr,
any advice anyone?

not worth the trouble unless you have a Diesel engine fitted.

you will need the modify the rear of the tank or make new brackets to secure the tank in place and if you have an EFI Petrol you will need to setup an external efi fuel pump and this can get quite $$$.

It doesnt have to be exxy, just use an external VL- VN dunnydore pump, or maybe use an internal holden or ford pump and adapt the tank to fit it.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

how hard would it be to find a spare long range tank? as i dont have the money to go new, so thought a second hand would be the go?

I will be doing a trayback conversion on my 84 rangie soon and won't need my long range tank. It started as a 135 litre Long Ranger, but was modified by Out of Town 4WD (who manufacture the Long Ranger tanks) to increase the capacity with a 2" body lift.

Tuffrr in 2nd post said that the rear of the tank needs modifying, or make new brackets. I would have to check what is involved in that.

Commodore external fuel pump sounds easy enough.
