OFFSET RIMS FOR A HILUX

i got a freind going to order some 33x12.5 on 15s and some 15 x 8 rims.
he would like to be less tippy :lol:

so what would be a good rim for this!!!!

I had 15X10s with 2 inch back spacing and a wide track rear end and i still fell over real bad :bad-words:

he has had my patrol rims on and they are -10 so maybe a rim of about
-20 would be ok maybe......

Layman's terms - just get a 15x8 rim with a Nissan GQ offset. keeps it simple.

Troy is right the GQ offset is about the best you will get off the shelf.
I beleive the -10 is measured from the centre line of the rim.
So a rim with -10 offset would have the mounting face 10mm inward from the centre line.

Im not positive on this.

That's correct, the 'GQ' offset will widen the track of the target vehicle.

Im prety sure GQ and 75series are the same offset.

cruiser offset (I think 80 series) is -58. I am pretty sure that is the widest off the shelf rim. GQ is +10...
Negative offset is the fatter variety..

Okay, if you are wanting a rim off the shelf (NO rimming jokes thankyou) ask for a 15x8 (obviously 6 stud) rim with negative 25mm offset. This offset is not for any specific make or model - the salesmen/fitters opinions will differ everywhere - some will say 75 series, some GQ, some say the cross (that's the last time I take POS's advice and ask Trent) :lol:

Negative offset is where the centreline of the wheel is outside the mounting surface (deeper dish)

Positive offset is where the centreline of the wheel is inside the mounting surface.

all measurements are expressed in mm

I've had GQ offset 16x8s on my 84 4runner. The weights on the wheel just touched the tie rod end on the drivers side. OK so the wore themselves down to not touch anymore but thats not the point. With 15x8 they wouldn't have fitted because of the tie rod setup. Try them on the car before money changes hands because I thought I was going to have to put spacers on to make mine fit. It's a little dissapointing to get home with a new set of 16x8 rims with new 285/76 16 BFG's only to find when you bolt them up, they won't spin.

Do you know the offset of the rim? If not then perhaps you should get the steel rule out and measure the offset. You will find you have a neutral offset (0) or positive offset (+10 or similar)

Thunder, when you get some rims, just ask for a negative 25mm offset rim, your trusted tyre bloke will do the rest. (if the rims don't fit, the trade practices act covers you for replacement)

I run negative 25's 15x8's on my 86 hilux - not a problem.
