3f
I had a 3f in my 80 it had done aprox 300,000 km and just starting to blow a little bit of smoke, they are a good motor but lack in power. You will find your self in low range a lot when in the bush, that is why I put a 350 chev in mine.

Same here, mine is the carby 3f and can honestly say that i cant fault it. Good on fuel for what it is. Buying the cook a new car so this one is getting the 8 treatment as well.
Maybe i should finnish one car before i start another

NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPOINTMENTS
3f motors were a good reliable motor with only on minor flaw, the head. Exhaust valves can burn out on #5&6 which will require stellite seats fitted on o/haul if gas is being used. We had two 85 60series cruisers with 596,000 and 304,000kms and both were still running well. If the car blows smoke on startup it may just be valve guides that need to be replaced.
I had a carbie/3f, was sick of it fuel starving when doing very steep climbs, always left me half way up, had to roll it back down and then crank it till it decided to fireup. But as running lpg I dont think you will have that problem.
Problems? well... leaking pumps, noisy valves (or whatever it was), lack of power, leaking seals, crapy ignition points, FUEL CONSUMPTION, etc. Do you have any chance of steering away from this car?
