Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Post by klrevo »

hey guys,

just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before or can tell me what it may be....

- when the cars say doing 50km/hr in 5th and doing about 1500 revs, and im just going along and ill come to a hill ill get this really nasty 'kickback' kinda clunky jolt and noise.

- this will also happen at low speeds in high gears at low revs all the time. its not the car stressing as if it should be in a lower gear, cos ill give it a bit of throttle and itll be sweet but then to get up to speed ill get like 2,3, or 4 of thse really harsh kickbacks/jolts.

- itll do it while just trying to get up to speed and in the correct gear also

- it feels like something, like diffy, or clutchy, like something slipping and then grabbing, but its only when under load kinda thing on the road. it wont do it in 4WD.

- i dunno what this may be, im gonna get it serviced soon so ill prob ask then, but yeh until then if anyone can help itd be greatly appreciated

yeh could be blair, theres definitely some movement around there, well yeh theres plenty of movement in my tailshaft/transfer in general, the point of which is caused by the flogged out transfer mount is unbeknown to me, but yeh possibly the uni hey. my mech seems to think that the vibes i also get in lows revs and shi7 is caused by the output bearing, but yeh i dunno boout this? would this also cause the clunking im experiencing??? :? thanks dan, spare uni sounds good, how bout a sawp for the springs, do you even still want them??? :D i drove down to work last wed/thurs, couldve brought them down, but didnt know if u still wanted them, come on boys we gotta go out some time soon yeh :D

yeh see i meant to say that aswell, thanks J top, it also seems like that when i put the foot down, something isnt there, like yeh a missfire, or a cruddy a/f mix, or soemthing, i dunno, is there anything i can do to make sure/find out what it is??? :? ill obviously now go around and check the air sensors, and plug, and leads, and what not but anything else???

thanks heaps guys

Does it feel like it's dropping a cylinder? If so i would be looking at replacing spark plugs and/or ignition leads!! When was the last time you gave her a set of new plugs?

yeh hudson i was thiking that hey, but i dont actually know what its like when its dropping a cylinder... :? but i did think that, for some reason the feeling just made it seem like that, and yeh i have not put a set of new plugs in since iv had it, prob should do then, iv done 20,000kms in it in 9 months, and god knows when it had a new set before then. ill try that first, and also check everything sensor wise ;)

Give him a complete tune up..... clean injectors, replace spark plugs, change both fuel filter (the one inside the tank and the normal one) change the air filter and clean the throll body with carb cleaner, take out the IAC only, and clean it..... you will get a much more responsive engine, cleaner emmision and better milage.... Good luck
