Newbe Here!!

Post by Rocfrog »

I foud this forum awhile back but my Samuri wasn't up and running sence I bought it so I was just doing alot of lurking and gathering info! SO I finally got it running last weekend and then I think toasted the clutch! So I'm back to gathering info so I can lift it once I get it driving! Here is a current picture of it!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v620/ ... G_1034.jpg

I thought I'd finally sign up so I could ask a question that has been driveing me nuts trying to find help with, and that is... I noticed that most of the people on this forum are located all over the world with few in the USA (which is where I'm located!) So I was wondering if anyone out there can help me out?? Suzuki aparently still makes the Samurai for the rest of the world and not the US and has made some really nice improvements to it in my mind! I was trying to locate one of the really nice new grills with the cool side lights next to the headlights. Like this one (sorry Spamwell for stealing your rig but I love it!!)

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a27/sp ... G_1193.jpg

The hard part is trying to find some one that can get me the grill and lights and then ship them to me!!

Great forum you guys have here and alot of good info all so!!

Those lights and front grills were only fitted to coil Sierras/Sammys.
They were only made for the last couple of years of Sierras, before changing to the new Jimny shape. late 90's I think.
I don't think they will bolt straight on to earlier Leafed Sammys, but I personaly haven't tried.

You need a whole 96 onwards front clip to fit that grill. I looked at it myself but it was too much work/mods involved so I passed it out.

BTW there is a forum of suzuki owners based in the USA www.zuwharrie.com go to the bbs and you'll find heaps of people in your side of the lake.

Good luck with your Sami.

That's what I've been told but I like fabricating things and makeing them work and I REALLY want this grill/light set up on mine! Do you need the whole clip just because of the extra sheet metal or is the grill/front end just more rounded than the older ones?? I just really want that setup!!! If someone could maybe get one of the old one next to the new ones and take some comparison pictures for me so i can see how much work it might be??

I hae been a member of the zuwharrie board for over a year now along with about 7 other US based Sami boards but like I said we don't have Sami's after 1995 we stoped getting them! I had a guy on there from Central America looking for one for me but that was about 6-8months ago and I have yet to hear back from him! You guys actually own them other than like him who has just seen them once or twice!

Thanks guys once again great forum you got here!!!!!

The actual headlights holes/mounts sit differently in the fenders. Aparently the fenders are also different reason being this one attaches in other places to the chasis due to thhe coil sprung suspension. Also I kind of remember the grill was longer than the pre 96 ones.

They are so different that the 96+ came with plastic bumper bars and the ARB bullbar doesn't fit them.

Maybe someone else can put the pics up fir you.

I was looking to the Spanish Samurai and they seem to have what you want.

A grilled with the blinkers and parkers integrated and square shaped so it can replace the original one in your car.

Thanks Will for all you help and info! It sounds like all I have to do to mount the Coily grill in my Sami is to cut some of the fender away on either side of the grill and relocate the mounting tabs and it's in! I'm not worried about the fenders I just want the grill it's self. It would cost way too much to ship a front clip to the US!

I took the picture of the "Spanish" Samurai and the Coily one next to each other and looked at them for awhile and the "Spanish" one does have all the componets that I want but I think I like the "LOOK" of the coily better! I know all this probly sounds crazy to your guys but I like to have a very unique look to all my cars/trucks and if I have to do extra work, like making a grill fit then that's what I like to do. Besides it keeps me out of trouble!! LOL!

Be totally different in the US and run the drover grill. This has the rectangle headlights in there.

Let me advice you that the postage is over $200 becuase of the dimensions, and they don't garantee that the grill arrive there as one piece.

Ok... You guys have been real helpful on this matter! I have spent the better part of tonight doing some searching on diffrent models and diffrent angle shots of diffrent modles. So after lots of looking and thinking and looking. I think that the coily grill is not going to look right on my sami  but I think I want to go with the "Spanish" grill because it has the front lights and looks more right on my "style" Sami. I looked at lots of pictures of the Coily's and the whole body style is more rounded and mine has a more flat square look, which is what I think Will was saying when he posted the picture of the "spanish" Sami. Not haveing these body styles here and being able to see them in person makes this really hard!

Once I find a grill and the lights, or some one in another country that has acess to these parts I don't think shipping will be to big of a deal becasue I have two very close friends that work for Fed-Ex and could always work something out!

So once again great forum and lots of help! Now on with the search for the RIGHT grill! LOL!

I looked at those too, as diffrent as they do look and would be neat to have something so diffrent but it doesn't have the extra lights I'm looking for. The square headlights do go better with the square body style though!
