Pump and Injector work 2.4TD 1986 4Runner $$?

Post by ash_on_mtb »

Just got a quote on pump swap and injector 'service' on 2.4D (bolted-on turbo) in '86 Runner, at about $1000... Is this sounding in the ballpark?!

Got a chronic leak from the pump, can't see if its top or front, and the motor has 215k on it (relativly unloved) I'd love to tour in this thing, sor reliablility is a big issue/concern, as opposed to a patch job as a temp fix.. Also new pump would cater for turbo with boost being incororated into the pump, as it is not currently.

Suggestions/actions/ or go for it?

Melbourne SouthEast - JK Diesel is the place...?! Reputation?

cheers,

I paid $1000 for rebuild on 2L injector pump and and injector swap over for reco'd ones. So price sounds about right..
Custom body work by trees and rocks...

Cheap pump

Post by bluemeanie »

You can do a pump swapp over at a place at the gold coast, the way it works is, you send them your pump and they send you a fully recon unit for the price of 500.00 with warranty. the ph number is 55637844. I havn't used them before but that was the cheapest place which had warranty.

took the plunge, 1000 cash (WTF?I understand cash only, but how does a warranty/guarantee work?) and the truck is like new. Well as new as an 86 can be. Its exceptional now, far better pickup, near to zero smoke, the turbo has FAR more effect, and we'll see how she tows. Now if only I had fifth gear..... And a RWC
