WHAT BATTERY TO USE

Post by MICKO »

I 've just fitted a winch to my hilux , i 'm after some info about what battery should ya use as the main battery as the one in it now is way too small . Also should you run the winch directly off the main battery or the second one . i use a smart isolator to separate the batterys.I don't want to go over the top with one but as long as it does the job. Any info would be handy.

Exide Endurance battery will cost around $100 has a CCA of 600 and will fit in the standard battery spot on a Hilux by just cutting the lip off one end of the plastic battery tray.

I`ve had 2 of these for about 3 years now and they have only just died.

I am going to a different type this time but only cause I want to try something different and the ones I am going to use are also about $100 but have a CCA of about 800. I just can`t remember the name of them, I will however have them soon so I can tell you the full details on them then.

I just bought a Overlander 700 battery which has a Cold Cranking Amp rating of 700.

Very pleased with it's quality construction and performance.

Cheers,

If you have got the cash go with an optima red top
One of THE best batteries on the market at the moment.
Will set you back about $300 though.

yeah i agree with the odyssey
the es12v1500 is the battery of my choice with 140 minutes of suppoting a 25 amp load to 10.5 v, vibration resistant (so excellent for 4x4's) they come with two years warranty. ashame about the cost but well worth it though. They are better then deep cycle batteries too.
