SWB shock clearance problems..
Just some pics for Ryan and others who were posting about having problems with rear shocks getting crushed by the bumpstop plates, or the coils rubbing on the shocks, etc..
The pics pretty much show the quick fix that I did, but to explain: The standard shock mounts are cut off and scribed in to the rear of the housing, and welded on so that they are higher up, further away from the axle, and slightly closer to the brakes. The coil plates are cut off and rolled forward on the axle. They have gussets made from flatbar welded to the front and back of the housing, the front one can be welded to the swaybar mount if, like me, you can't be fuct cutting it off. While you have to coil plates off, drop a bolt through the hole in the middle and weld the head to the uderside so you can bolt down a plate to hold the coils in.
Then just cut the back part of the bump stop plate off.
At full travel either way, the closest the coils come to the shocks with this setup is about 40mm, the the bump stop things are never anywhere near them.
This is with the axle moved back about 50-60mm, but it shouldn't make any difference if it isn't. It should in fact be better in the stock position, I think?

thanks wendle, that is what i was after, now all i need is a double cardain shaft, anyone got a spare? (do u park your car outside at night wendle?? i notice you have the same tailshaft im after..... )
all i need now is to get me a welder and start cutting, i was also thinking of somehow securing the coils in at the top end, and leaving them free at the bottom. because mine seem to pop out at the top and fall over and when they compress they go all over the place lol, reckon it will work??

Yep, the car is parked outside, with a large venomous snake inside to keep people like you at bay

Secure them at both ends, you won't lose any travel, and it will climb a whole lot nicer with a bit of resistance to down travel.
Just use two bits of about 50x6mm flatbar clamped together with 2 1/2" bolts above the coil bucket and under the top wrap of the coil. It is also a bastard to get in there with a spanner unless you have a bit of body lift....

hahah, It's a canberra winter ATM too, He could jump in the car and start eating the snake and the snake would be too cold to do anything about it ROFL.....

It is a freaky thing, the rear setup is awesome - quarter eliptic & double triangulated.. But they have cut all the body away to run 39"s, bearing in mind it is lowered about 2", the front tyres pretty much rub on the seats..
Once the body is completely gone and it is all monkey barred it will be awesome..
