Brake warning light - HJ75
Last night I started the ute up ( 1985 HJ75 Landcruiser diesel cab chassis) and the brake warning light on the dash did not go out.
I pulled the top of the brake fluid reservoir and jiggled the float up and down. When the float is at the bottom of its stroke, the waring light on the dash gets brighter. This seems to indicate that something else is triggering the light.
Any one have any idea what besides low fluid can trigger this warning light?
Cheers,

I agree with NJ SWB, in fact I'd wager my goat on it.....if I had a goat......which I don't........honest!! Dodgy float switch. If the light goes out when you disconnect it then just leave it off if you are willing to make a point of monitorring the brake fluid level regularly. If you are lazy and insist on letting the light tell you when its getting low (or you are anal about having everything working as it should on your vehicle) then get a new one from Toyota or check out the wreckers.
Hope some or all of that dribble was of use.

Have you disconnected the float switch yet to see if the light goes out? If it doesnt then you guys might be right with the vacuum. I've never seen one play up like that before so couldn't advise you.pridhac wrote:The problem seems to be something in the booster vacuum side of things.
I am not sure yet if the vacuum sensor has died, or if there is a lack of vacuum. Maybe the vacuum pump on the back of the alternator is getting a bit lazy?
