Who will be the Toughest Dog in this year’s Tuff Truck Challenge???

The Tough Dog-Tuff Truck Challenge of 2006 is gearing up to be the best yet. The competitors are revving and raring to go and the spectators are chomping at the bit as the event organisers put the final touches to this year’s event.

Details on the final competitor starting positions can be viewed on the Tuff Truck website. Speaking of which, WHO will take out the coveted Offroad Images perpetual trophy and the $7500.00 cash prize??? Will it be one of last years place getters Pete Antunac’s-40’ Landcruiser (Team-OPW), Mick Garner’s-Mog Rover (Team-Haultech Engineering) or Matt “Gonads” Pisani’s newly built Vitara (Team-M&M Custom Engineering)??? OR will it be one of the crowd favourites like Glenn Dobbin’s-45’ Landcruiser (Team-Dobbin Engineering), maybe one of the longtime Range Rover driver’s like Peter O’Brien (Team-Wild Violet), Bob Watling (Team-Red Bitch) or Brian Kelley (Team-B1 and B2), the field extends so far with well known and drilled teams.

Will the team workers like David Burton-Bradley/Greg Heick in the Hilux (Team-DGR) outdrive the field??? If lady luck smiles upon Bill “Snowy” Geerling in the purple 40’ Landcruiser (Team-TLCC), Dave Woodley, TJ Wrangler (Team-Wooder’s Heap) or Alan Paviour-Smith in the oldest competing vehicle, a 43’ Willy’s Jeep (Team-Binskin’s Madcow) they could be crowned the Tough Dog-Tuff Truck Challenge champion of 2006.

It is predicted now to keep an eye for the Victorians and Queenslanders, both state-siders are highly competitive when out of their natural habitat and in NSW territory. Rumours are that James Simmons in his 40’ Landcruiser (Team-PGS Racing) is a batsman in form and will give all challengers a real run for their money. So watch out for James as well as the other two Victorian’s Michael Justice in his 40' Landcruiser (Team-Just Customs/ABT Racing) and Brett Burns’ Sierra (Team-Zooked PGS Racing).

A further question to pose relates to which brand vehicle will be number one??? The mix of manufacturers represented in the brand stakes is interesting. There is loyalty to five participating brands of vehicle: Nissan (7), Toyota (15), Jeep (4), Land Rover (6) and Suzuki (9). It was Toyota, Land Rover and Suzuki in last year’s event but be assured, the Nissan and Jeep drivers won’t go down without a fight this year. Brand pride is on the line, so won’t that be an interesting battle.

With a seasoned field of experienced and new campaigners the possibilities of who will receive the winner’s cheque at the end of the weekend will make for an entertaining weekend.

It was quite amazing on Friday, the Tuff Truck phone rang off its hook with enquiries on TTC06 tickets. All callers mentioned that they had U2 tickets. Unfortunately, pre event ticket sales have closed.

That thought did cross my mind, then I thought TTC will be there next year, U2 wont be. So initially U2 won, thank god they postponed.

I think you will find Michael Justice drives a highly modified 40 series toyota and not a jeep as you have listed.
The jeep from Victoria is driven by Nick Hirons and is called Black Betty.

I think Antunac will be very hard to beat.
In my opinion the experience he has gained in rock crawling events like WErock and OZrock will improve his all terrain driving immensely.

I know that is how I feel when thinking back to TT last year and then comparing it to how I can read a course and decide on the best lines to take.
I just wish we were in TT this year as I think it would be a lot easier to be up the top.

Can't wait to get up there and watch all of the action :)

cheers

Z, you're right on the Michael Justice his vehicle is a 40' Landcruiser. I picked up on this one yesterday but Nick Hirons is from NSW (according to the information that I have).

Thanks

Not sure why he would be listed as being from NSW?

Brother Moose, I can't reveal who will win (I simply don't know) but I'm thinking you could set up a tote at TTC06. I'll start promoting it now, put on a Kenny Calendar voice and she'll be apples.
