for a few trips now i have been scared shitless when coming down some very teep climbs the truck slips out of low range and spears towards a big ouch moment how do i prevent this from killing me?

i had this problem with my 60, turned out to be a worn rear engine (gearbox)mount, not broken but the rubber flexed enough to let the gear lever hit the body when doing hill climbs in 4l,knocking it back to neutral. Scared the shit out of me when your halfway up a steep hill and all of a sudden have no more forward momentum..

Check the spring detent on top of the transfer near the hi-lo lever. Sometimes the spring loses too much of its tension and the transfer jumps into neutral easily. If that is fine, then the splines on the transfer output shaft may be worn out.

yeah mine does this too.... i thought i was the only one??

seems to more do it at higher speeds tho once it goes in.
