Electrical Question
Electrical Question
I've recently mounted some Hella 4000's to the truck. Its a 2001 GU 4.2 Turbo diesel wagon. I've checked the relay connections, and the earth points, and all seem fine, however when the high beam (and the spotties) goes, on the fuel gauge drops. Switch the buggers off and the gauge comes back up, tried disconnecting one light and the gauge moves still, but only slowly.
Any ideas before i take it to the auto electrician.
I've used this relay before on a pair of 100w Bull Lamps, on my rangie and no sweat.
Thanks

after reading your post i remember vaigly someting about a negative on the patrol wagons going through the fuel sender in some instances of high current draw. It would be too hard to search here for the answer, its too specific, but i think if you upgrade the earth strap from battery to chassis and engine block you could be on the right track.
good luck

Ok, this could do it. At the moment the lights are earthed at the bullbar, i'll try taking the earth back to the battery from the lights.
Would it make a difference if i was to use the second battery for the power as only the fridge runs off this, perhaps a separate circut might also help???
Thanks again for the input...
