First LONGFIELD busted in Australia!
Here are a few pics of my LONGFIELD that i busted in round 1 of XRCC!
I am running 38.5 BAJA CLAWS and ran the LONGS for about 6 months!
I have been known to USE unnessarsary amounts of throttle at times!
The Longs lasted much longer than i ever could imagine, it is by far the best $$$$ i have spent on the POS!!! (Second to the BAJA CLAWS )
The Long was sent back to BOBBY LONG (longfield ) and was replaced under warranty, it was sent to the states and the turn around was very quick considering the distance!
Even though there is no longer a Warranty offered on longs they are still awesome gear and BANG for the BUCK!!!!!
For all you YOTA owners out there the LONGFIELD is a bloody great product!

Yep thats where i started and then i finished after prob 50 when i purchased longfields. I had wheeled realy hard on them(prob harder than POS) and have tried many times to break them without a failure. My rig has been down for more than 6months now and i dont expect they would have lasted till now if it were going but when i bought these i was breaking CVs every time i went out.
I was the first person to fit these in Aus and Paid nothing for the first couple of months as Snake Racing or myself were sceptical about how strong they would be. Snake Racing has Video Footage of me intentionaly trying to break them. Full lock LH down on an undercut rock and full noise in double low bouncing and they still stood up. There was smoke pooring of the tyre.

Longfields are strengthened via a number of methods. Firstly their temper is removed so that a ring can be welded on the inside of the bell. Then they are heat treated and then cryogenically frozen to achieve the increased strength. Part of the strength is the welded ring which limits the amount that the bell can turn before it hits the inner axle. This also renders the CV un-rebuildable.
I believe that Bobby Long has brought out a new style that allows more steering lock but I am not totally sure.
I have CORE CVs which appear and claim to be quite strong. How they compare to the LONGFIELDS is unknown. CORE's are rebuildable but they are still not the proven product that LONGFIELDS are. I don't think that there is much difference in cost.

How have you come to this conclusion?

I paid $550ea for the CORE cvs but as RUFF said - LONGS retail at something like $1300 in Aus through Snake Racing. Although we know that not everyone pays retail
RUFF wrote:Dont Quote me on this but i beleive they are $1300 from Snake Racing in Sydney.
