Spray on ute liners

Post by sudso »

Has anyone ever had these spray on ute liners?

They are polyurethane and seem very durable. Easy to wash the tub out too.
I've seen those drop in liners but they all seem to crack or break and trap moisture and crap underneath.

we have the spray on herculiner ... in both the trailor and X8
from first hand experience ... its not as good as they say!
it tore up after we threw some 1man size rocks in there

after seeing that ur sposed to be able to jam a crowbar into it and not lift it and throw bessa blocks at it ... im kinda dissapointed spesh for the price of having it professionally done

I have it in the floor of my vehicle and its great. If you want to throw rocks at it you need a couple of applications and build it up to probably 5mm thick.

Was probably not professionally done then. If it tore up it couldn't have been prepped properly or its just a crap product. Never heard of herculiner before.

if it wasn't done professionally i wouldn't have said it wouldn't have said it ... so theres a company here that does it "professionally" as a spray on liner full work shop for cleaning down etc .... its been sprayed on thick ... can't see the checks in the plate any more ... so im quite sure he preped it properly and if u've never heard of it u've been living under a rock ...

I've only heard of Rhino Liners (not cheap but very good apparently) but there must be a dozen or more brands out there.
Wasnt having a go at your liner mate, you said you were dissappointed how it tore up. If it happened to me I wouldn't call it a proffesional job.

Line X is a really awsome coating that you can throw anything at and it will take it.
But... It is expensive and does need to be profesionaly applied.

I've heard that it's not just a matter of wiping the surface clean and getting out the spray gun to get a proffesional and long lasting job.
Apparently it is a very labour intensive job i.e: clean surface, rub back paint to remove all gloss, mask up, prime and coat to required thickness.

After seeing what happens to drop in poly liners (warp, crack, slippery) and underneath to the tub if they're not removed and cleaned regularly I reckon it's worth the extra bucks for a spray on one. The salesman recomends a non slip rubber mat on top of the plastic drop in ones too.

Xtreme did mine years back

i've flogged it through various mines since with toolboxes on board, only one tear and thats where the corner dug in on a chest with 80 odd kilos in it.

i'm happy as a pig in the proverbial...

Bloody rhino linings wanted three grand to do my sierra inside floor and footwells, and that was supplied completely stripped for them, i told them where to stick it.
Might try some of that self applicating stuff tho.

I was looking for the self applied stuff, its called Herculiner. Talking to the importers, they're in Rhodes in Sydney, they will no longer be importing it, due to the short shelf life. I were selling some and they had sat in a container for a while, and all the tubs were rock hard, so they have canned (pardon the pan!) supplying it any longer.

So basically the Herculiner is un-obtainable in Oz unless someone else brings it in now.

Might have to look at some of the other systems suggested in this thread. Thnaks for the heads up on these systems guys.

ANybody know who does these spray on liners in Sydney?? Most are listed in QLD, but im in Sydney, dont fancy a drive all the way north for a ute spray!!

Cheers

I have the interior of my lux done in Herculiner, you can spray it on yourself if you thin it with xylene according to the directions, or you just apply with a sponge!

You didn't specify what company you had talked to.

Sorry for trying to help, it won't happen again.

haha, sorry mate, was a bit short with ya.

I did say that the importers of Herculiner, in Rhodes, werent going to import it any longer, and if u follow the link, it takes u to the importer of Herculiner and their offices are in Rhodes, so I figured 1+1=2.

Thanks anyway.

I would expect there would be some in Sydney.

There is a place at Warners Bay (south of Newcastle) that do rhino liner.

I would like to know if there are local people for line-X

I'm going to do this inside my Bundy. I reckon it's a great idea, saves the carpet and still grips like shit to blanket when it's wet. Would be easy to clean out with a hose after mudbaths too.
Cant understand the 3K quote though when they can do a full size ute tub for around 800 and that includes prep work and primer :?: :?:
