Passing on some experience here. I recently (last weekend) fitted a new camshaft to my petrol Pajero to improve the response and shift the torque peak up to 3500 rpm from 2400. Was also looking to increase power band up to 5000+ rpm and by this I am talking power-band.
So how did it all turn out.... in a word beautifully. The idle is identical to standard, the idle vacuum is up a small amount, the torque high point is now at 3500 rpm and she accelerates very well in 5th to 5000 rpm. Holds 100 Km/h like you wouldn't believe, the difference is awesome.
Who made the cam: TIGHE ENGINEERING - West End Brisbane
How much: $245
Model number: Cam is known as a 495.
How long to fit: From start to finish 1.5hrs and that was not rushing at all, this would have to be the easiest engine to work on ever!!!

I do have the Magna EFI manifold setup as well as a supercharger, however I don't run Petol ....only LPG. All up a nice combination. The cam lobe centres were adjusted slightly to accomodate the pressure created by the supercharger, otherwise a lot of boosted mixture would have been blown straight out in the 4500 - 5500 rpm band.
