hey all. i put a gemini 1.6 and 4 speed box in my wt swb choped zook, but coz the box was so long i had to move the transfercase back 140mm will i have problems with the front tail sharft being longer or any thing like that.

they are roughly 8"-10" longer

cheers guys, do ya reckon i will get any bad vibrations from the the front tail sharft being longer. i will be extending the wheel base arfter registered so that should fix that problem , got all the bracket made up for coils converson, once i get rego.

you should buy my 45 ute 


we installed a gemi 1.8lt diesel and 5sp into a 1.0lt swb zook.
instead of the jack shaft we made up a CV type connector between back of box and transfer case......Only had to move the case back 30ml to do this and I am sure the 5sp is longer than the 4sp.
You will have binding on the back shaft if you take that much out of it for sure on a SWB.....

30mm sh!t i wish mine was only that much, i put the motor as fare forward as i could with no room for a radiator and made a uni back to back to fit between box and transfer and still had to mvoe it 140mm. i was told that you have to have 2 uni's to counteract each other coz if you have one it give bad virbrations and will rip transfer mounts off all the time. thats what i was told not sure if true or not. have you got any pics of the c.v. joint that you made for yours?

The simplist conversions are the best, try using suzuki parts next time.

for the 2nd... i fully DISAGREE with you here.. it is done in everything and every form. if it is worked out from the start you will have no problems..

I fitted a Gemini 1.8 Diesel and 5 speed to my LWB ute and I had to move my transfer case back 138mm like Surmo. Why 138mm you ask. Well before I started I got under the truck with a tape messure and found out that the rear tail shaft is 138mm longer than the front one. So now the front is in the rear and the rear is in the front. Hope this helps.
I have a two uni jack shaft a hell of a lot shorter than the one in the pic and it is still very tight for room, so I have no idea how jtraf managed to do it only moving the transfer back 30mm?
But then again I managed to squeeze the radiator in its original position!
What I would like to know is what suspension are you guy running. I'm running a 2" lift and its not enough to clear the front diff uni hitting the bell housing. My next move is to go spoa (and a wide track while I'm at it).

There was a zuk doing the rounds a while back built by Rod (total 4wd) that was running an Isuzu 2.6 litre motor from a jackeroo (might have been rodeo), he was still running the 4 speed it came with as well as transfer case for an initial reduction into a Zuk case for some nice low range and along with a huge boost in torque and HP ..
I have pics of it somewhere will begin searching the archive and see if I can find em.
The motor was well forward and used a tarago radiator from memory as it was quite wide but not terribly tall
