Landcruiser diffs?

Landcruiser diffs?
I have a standard 80 series diesel, does anybody know if the diff ratio in them is 4:11. If so, would a diff center from a landcruiser ute (diesel I think) with a 4:11 ratio interchange with my one?
Thanks.......Stuart
Thanks.......Stuart
The diff ratios between the ute diffs and the 80 wagon diffs are ever so slighty different the wagon is 4.1:1 ( 10-41 teeth ) and the utes and all the other cruisers are 4.11:1 ( 9-37 teeth ) i believe they are that way round and have a mate in a wrecking yard that has sold diffs where the customer have complained about drive line noise and found the diffs of sligtly differing ratio's to cause the noise. I personally would not have thought 0.2% difference would make any difference but has on a few occasions when he sold the wrong diffs and discovered and or realized the problem.

Interesting. Was that vehicle a full time 4WD, Wally? I figure even differences in tyre inflation pressure can account for a similar difference in rolling radius as well.80UTE wrote:The diff ratios between the ute diffs and the 80 wagon diffs are ever so slighty different the wagon is 4.1:1 ( 10-41 teeth ) and the utes and all the other cruisers are 4.11:1 ( 9-37 teeth ) i believe they are that way round and have a mate in a wrecking yard that has sold diffs where the customer have complained about drive line noise and found the diffs of sligtly differing ratio's to cause the noise. It was a 75 series cruiser with a front 80 diff centre that had the problem as i said it suprised me, resold the diff for an 80 and no noises. I once had 4.300 rear ratio ( 100 cruiser ) and 4.375 front ( nissan ) and thought there would be no problems with less than 2% difference and if you heard the diff noise coming you would have sworn the diff was ready to fall out and talk about wind up, fitted matching 4.375 rear centre and all was purfect again.beanz2 wrote:Interesting.
