Toyota Vs Nissan kw ?

Post by Deleted User »

I have a few questions about the "new" Toyota wagon Vs the "new" Nissan wagon ( 4.2 Diesels ) in regard to kw and (rough) price -
What I am trying to get at is - The Nissan has less kw than the Toyota. If you were to turbo the Nissan, you would have more power than the standard Toyota and still be cheaper than the Toyota outright.
Is this correct ?

Can anyone help me with the following ----

1/ Nissans KW ?
2/ Toyota KW ?
3/ Nissan with factory Turbo - KW ?
4/ Rough price of Toyota ?
5/ Rough price of Turbo Nissan ?

5/ Rough price of Turbo Nissan ? $56,000
As far as I know, the 4.2 Nissan ONLY comes as a factory Turbo I/C. The Toyota on the other hand is available as NA or Turbo (GXL minimum variant for Turbo).

Answers to ther quereis above (both prices are RRP for base model).

Sounds like the question should be the other way around. compare a turbo patrol to a na cruiser with a bolt on turbo. Would probably work out around the same price.

until you have to rebuild the toyota motor. They just don't seem to handle it (an after market turbo that is)

Depends on how you go about it...

are you serious? there are 1HZ's with 500,000+km on them with aftermarket turbos. It's all in the setup, and the same must be said for the TD42 with aftermarket turbo. at 10psi a 1HZ with afterrmarket turbo and free flowing exhaust pumps 400+Nm and 130+kW, with exhaust temps in the mid 500's under heavy load, and will do it all day long. Aftermarket turbocharging on these motors is definitely a good option.

the 1HD_FTE factory turbo is very  , very nice to drive, and very economical. it is OHC, 24 valve, direct injecton, front mount intercooler (on 100 series), and correct me if I'm wrong, 10,000km oil change interval. the Nissan has none of these things - reliable power output from an internally unmodified TD42T is around 150kW, the 1HD-FTE can be chipped to around 200kW without fear.

anyway to answer the original question, best bang for buck is probably the toyota standard wagon with an aftermarket turbo and intercooler setup, will put you over the price of the Nissan but the power will easily exceed the potential of the Nissan, and you need not fear for the life of the motor to do it.

NM = Newton meters (torque)

0 NM = Zero Newton meters
