Hi all, someone was telling me the other day to improve performance and reliability on my 1997 S1 V8 Disco to replace the points distributor with an electronic one. What is involved and how much does it roughly cost ? Has anyone had any good and bad experiences with this ?
Not sure what he meant !!!
Matt.

Sorry for all the confusion, I think I confused myself more than anything.
Mine does for have a electronic distributor... I was thinking more about the optical sensor (Piranha stuff) distributors, that’s where I got confused.
The kit the guy was talking about, was replacing all the Lucas crap with Bosch stuff. So you replace the distributor and amplifier module as well, all with Bosch, all on the one unit. (The module is attached in a heat resistant container on the side of the distributor.. looks pretty solid unit) Also he said put Magnacoor leads on it. All up for about $700. He said that he hasn’t had any of the play up, and I’m sure everyone I know, including myself has had the Lucas amplifier module play up at least once.
