Can I assume guys that most people who show some interest would be able to get a partner for the comp?

That would be great if you can. Also if you don't mind can you PM me contact details so that I can keep a record to use when I have more info.

Already we have 11 interests between here and perth4x4 just from the last two days. And that is not contacting clubs. If like I assumed people could get another person interested that would equal half the amount we need to run the comp.

By 'partner' do you mean can we field a full team (of two cars) or do you mean another team altogether?

I can do the former (depending on dates), and _maybe_ the latter.

Cheers,

WA Navrun

Post by Hobzee »

Hi Guys 'n Gals

Yes I'm as ken as Rudi to run a Navrun in WA.

But remember we did have one schedulled, advertised here on OL and in the 4WD mags and letters to all WA 4WD clubs and got just 4 teams. That didn't give me much confidence in the WA interest and so you have to be very convincing - ala money up front etc etc..

Here in Vic events are getting very professional. People accept that a comp is going to set you back $300-$500 for a team entry by the time you consider set up, running costs, catering, toilets, office work and insurances, trophies, etc etc. I know in Tas our attendances are down because people want to stick to $20 Club events and maybe some WA clubbers are going to have to come to terms with a $300 ticket ($150 per car).

We will fly over and will need a driver/vehicle(s) to run us around for the 2 days (Thursday/Friday) before Navrun. We will bring all the gear (computers, printers, GPS units, cameras, etc).

You get like 20 teams to pay in advance and I am there just as keen as you blokes seem to be.

PM Rudi re dates and payments

There seems to be a _lot_ more interest this time round on the local WA 4x4 web sites. Most people are keen, but just need a date. Hopefully one that doesn't clash with other events over here.

Hey hobzee and Rudi i think we can get the numbers you are talking about, I just need to give some guys details of the dates so they can work around it and confirm that they can make it. From there I will then get the teams to register with you.

Thanks guys for the interest

Sorry guys for the delay, can you give me and Hobzee a little more time to come up with the details, etc. Have been extremely busy with the Amazing Race event set up. We will have time during the Easter break to come up with the details then., as we will be living out of the caravan for a week from this Sunday during the Amazing Race.

Ok guys here are the details for the proposed WA Navrun.

We haven't on planned on doing any further events for this year as our calendar is very full and we are very snowed under. In order for us to even think about doing an event in WA we have had to make some changes.

Our running costs are high to go over, etc So please no smart comments on entry fees. If you don't like it, then don't do it, or run your own event, its that simple.

We put a lot of time and effort in our events so you can enjoy and have a ball out there, and also learn a lot about navigating too.

The event firstly must have at least 20 teams of 2 vehicles to run. The fee is $320.00 per team ( $160.00 per car ). There will be prizes and trophies up to 10th place but there will be no catering.

Area: around the Collie district.

Date: September 30 / 1st October, 2006.

Step One; all we require at this stage is confirmed teams. What I would like to do is get confirmed teams by submitting their team name and email address. I have created a webpage to do this. Just click on this link: http://www.navrun.com.au/WA.htm

Step two; once we have our quota I will then email each team to confirm all details and ask for payment.

I will keep everyone informed on the progress as we go along.

Kind Regards, Rudi
