Pipe for internal cage on sierra?

Will 32NB be strong enough?
I was thinking of doing 3 hoops front middle and back with some crossbracing and stuff.
I was wondering if I should make the main middle hoop out of 40NB for a bit more strength?
I dont want to add heaps of weight to the little bazook though.
Not sure whether to worry about the rear hoop. We still have the back seats fitted and if we did roll with someone back there they would be cactus with just canvas protecting there noggins.
But then with the cross bracing I dont know if anyone could fit in the back anyway.
Ideas?

Looks like overkill to me, and it would make a small car internally far smaller for four people with all that tube packed in aswell.

Do you regularly drive hard with 4 people in the car?
I have considered a similar design myself, but the car falls over all the time so exo's have been far more useful.

No we dont regularly drive with back seat pasengers but...
...We are just about to have our first kid and in a couple of years they will want to join in the fun
So Im not sure what to do re the back.

I have thought of exoing it but the missus doesnt like the look of them and it is her car... sort of

just keep in mind that a triangle is a much strnger shape than any 4 sided shape ( squares, rectangles etc), so the more braces you can put in diagonally between the main bars, the stronger it will be.

the rear section of the cage has little structural rigidity. There is no triangulation.

I would remove the third hoop and just run angled back braces.

Lets face it, if you haven't had the baby yet it will be 4 or 5 years before you take the young one with you anyway. In which case you've probably trashed and replaced the car by then.

Being a DD and weekend fun car i cant really see u pushing it that hard to need all that steel, If u are going to push that hard I think u need to buy another zuk. If u do roll it it will more than likely just be a flop, that cage is good for half a dozen barrel rolls

For DD or local events a 4 point rear cage should be fine I would have thought.

A 4 point cage certainly is better than not having one at all, however a 6 point does offer far superior occupant protection. For the small amount of additional work involved in fabbing a 6 point to a 4 point i'd definitely go the 6.

I say you should be doing more work on the lux then the zuk!!!!!

As for the cage, as said before it's only a dd and nees to be designed to take a light roll.

I would look at A and B hoop, with a minimum of three/four spreader bars up top. Then a rear brace on the B hoop.

If i had that sort of roll cage in i think i would fell very safe. Maybe about too much but better safe than sorry!

the X bracing on the "B" hoop will be a killer for the rear pasengers. I wouldn't put my pride & joys ( kids ) in the position where I might roll a car. A teenager maybe, but will there still be petrol than ?

At the very least you need to brace that B hoop (see pic). Cross baces on the B hoop r good, but are you intending on only carrying midgets in the back seat?

With a DD and a back seat u dont want any type of cross bracing at all, especially with a baby in the back seat.

Just trying to plan ahead.
I am thinking I will go with a design similar to what you have drawn.
I dont like the lack of cross bracing though it looks like it would be a bit weak in a flop.
I dunno I will start at the front and work my way back. Once I have some pipe in my hands I will work it out
