Can you have a hi mount bar on GU and still be air bag compl

Post by Sick Puppy »

I have a customer who wants a bar for a GU and wants looks, a Hi Mount, spotties, etc... but he has drivers air bag and wants to keep it. I was thinking FAT bar but they are non air bag compliant. ARB/TJM are big $ and dont fit hi mount without more mods (and then is it still compliant after mods)...

Your thoughts???

Too best of my knowledge nothing available.

As you probably already know, airbag compliance is only gained through extensive crash testing of bars, hence the big $$$ offerings from the ARB and TJM (that don't take hi mounts).

He'll have to choose between airbag and hi mount or an extensively and expensive, modified ARB and probably cut grill to fit the motor.

legally as soon as you modify a ARB/ TJM bar they are non complyant, they may still activate the sensors. but i wouldn't put my name to it.

our bars (FAT) are not air bag compatable as there is no crumple zones, we are trying to get this to work at the moment. trying to get the balance right is proving hard

in VIC it is not illegal to disconect the airbags. as for other states i'm not sure
