37's on Shorty GQ

Post by Elmo »

been looking for the last few hours, but alas to no avail

wondering what is needed to fit 37's on a shorty GQ, trying to keep it as low as poosible, 35's are pretty easy with only 2" of susp and a 2" body, but curious as to whats needed to go those extra 2inches, the only rigs i can find running 37's have got real big lifts, and im not really into that

any help guys and gals would be greatly appreciated

i run 36's with 3" spring 2" body and guard cut so i would immagine you would need 4" spring and 2" body and cut front and rear guards out

mmmm i was thinking i might have to do that :? , how much guard cutting did you have to do??? would there be enuf left to cut more out?? or would it be borderline on having to move the diff forward a bit????

I have 37s with a 3" spring and 2" body on the SWB

Cut the rear guards all the way back too the petrol filler square flap leave enough to make a lip.

The front there is heaps to play with .

Duncan did mine so he may tell you exact amount he took off.

But it looks good nice and low but big wheels good flex.

JT Fibreglass sell front guards that fit up to 42" for $220 each, wont help the back but they do help reduce the weight in the front

I used to have a GQ with 10" of lift  7" spring, 30mm spacer and 2" bodylift, and 37" wrangler's still touched the rear guard's, fixed the front with aftermarket radus arms so they moved the diff back to where it should be. i'd definitely go the guard chop 10" was way to high for my liking.

Yep the gear guards are the same as the guards on my Mav and also come as standard, cut for 37" tyres and the 42" tyres.
Also the bonnets that are bolt on, glass, carbon ect.
Give me a buzz as we keep them instock. 03 9762 9032

Are you going to have a attempt at this, im in the market for a GQ swb and i only want to go 2"body and 2"sus and 33s for street and touring and then a set of 35s to 37s offroad and if i can fit 37s with just a gaurd cut, thats what i will do then.

very interested in where this goes. i have 5 inch coils and 2 inch body lift in my gq shorty with 33's. my new plans are to get down to 2 inch coils, modify shock mounts to allow use of 3inch or longer shocks, and use my new 37mtrs. any one done this??

I don't really think you would have a hope of doing that. We tryed to fit my 37s under my mates GQ shortie with a 5 inch lift and the wheels wouldn't even turn.

The front would need the back of the guards cut pretty drasticly i'd imagine. For the rear you would need to cut the back of the quarter off even with the tail lights and still cut about 3 inchs of the guards all the way round. Even than I don't know wheather it would work.

I have 37s on a GQ with has a 6 inch suspension lift and 2 inch body and even with the rear quarters cut and all the flares removed I have ripped the tyres on the back pretty badly. The front is fine though.

Viper do it just cut the gaurds for clearance much better option than just adding lift to clear I cleared 37"s well enough for street driving with only 3.5" coils and 2 " body I should of just cut the gaurds to clear the niggling probs ...instead I fitted 4 " rear coils 5 " front to get it to sit level with front bar and winch ...

Although I had to cut more out of the rear gaurds after I converted it to 4 link rear as it got rid of the axle steer these get in the rear which in turn meant it didnt tuck the wheels into the guards ...but I also stretched the w/b by 30mm in the rear so this added to the 90mm of cutting needed .....

KEEP it low piss the 5 link rear off , adding a 4 link will make a much more stable rig , retain the rear coils upper /lower you dont need the coils droppinmg away from the coil seats to have a capable rig all this does is make it floppy and unpredictable ...............
