V8 Engine in ROCKY

Post by chunderlicious »

ive got a great deal on a 302 clevo with a stage three stick, 4 barrel 600 holley 351 crank and rods and a few other fun things. just wondering if others think im dreaming putting it in a daihatsu rocky? it would be mating it to a 60 series gearbox and transfer then trough 60 diffs, coiled.

the car is unregistered at present and needs to be registered, can anyone see any problems with these plans?

Evan

Im from brisbane if it means anything

thanx

hey ev this thing is sounding cool! is that wills old mans engine? like the sound of it but dont like your chances with the engine due to (weight? though the rockys do pack a fairly solid lump) and capacity. But you definitely wont get the diffs passed coz solid axle vehicles can only have max 50mm increase in track width. I reckon just get it regoed with stock gear then change it all...your only getting it regoed for comp work arent you? hope this one gets finished coz it would be awesome!

Based on weight under current regs you should legally be able to do it. However, inspectors have been knwon to balk at things they thought were "too big".

The fact that the rocky had a 2.8 turbo option from the factory will probably help your case. Just dont tell them about the 351 crank :D

would there be a better gearbox and transfer setup i could use, perhaps slightly lighter, more compact. the rocky trans and gearbox is very similar to a hilux box. everybox with any decent strength is massive.

any suggestions
