temperature sender part number

I have a Land Rover County with a 4.6L short motor and 3.5L carbies etc. The temperature guage doesn't work so I've grounded the wire and proved the guage still work as it flicks over to hot, so now I need to find a replacement temperature sender.

Does anyone know the part number for it or if any aftermarket sender will work? Its a VDO guage if that makes any difference.

i gave up trying to find one similar for my isuzu, so i went for a capillary one, cost about 25 bucks from repco. for installation just remove the old guage, and run the cable through the hole then through the firewall and into the temp sensor hole. be careful not to crease the black plastic covered copper tube too much as they do break easily (i broke mine when i changed my dash). if you smell aircon gas you have broken it. apart from that it works beaut, and does not require 12v to be read.

Any speedometer repair place should be able to sell you a VDO sender.

Manly speedometer repair for example.

I just brought a vdo temp gauge and sender from a speed shop about a month ago. Im still yet to install it but the sender supplied has the part number 320.002. Its 1/8 27NPTF thread and the range is 40-120degreesC. From all my research on the web this was the right sender for my gauge but I'm not sure if this will work with yours. If you wanna give it a shot mine only cost me $10.80 so it may be worth a try.
