Jimny Auto?

I've just bought a 91 Sierra with a G13BB engine, running what I believe is a Sierra 5-speed gearbox with a Sierra transfer case with some sort series 'Rockhopper' gears. How much trouble would it be and how expensive would it be to put a Jimny auto box in?

Is it worth it? Would the Sierra transfer case mate up to the Jimny auto gearbox? Maybe a future mod......

jimny auto combo will mate up but you have to buy the one to fit your engine(there was an auto g13bb and an m13a). auto is 50mm shorter than the 5 sp man so with a spaced jack shaft you could run the same transfer case.

Auto new from suzuki is about $7000 so maybe second hand is the way to go.

I would have to buy a pedal box as well wouldn't I?

I just wouldn't mind a auto again as I've always had autos in my last two 4WD's. It makes it easier over the tricky stuff.

I'm almost certain you can remove the clutch pedal without affecting the brake pedal on a Sierra

I can confirm that - it's easily removable with i think just one nut holding all the pedals in along a bolt..

A quick run down on what you can expect to be doing since you already have the G13BB engine in there:

1. Fit the auto to the eninge (pull the engine to make it easier for yourself
2. Cut the tunnel - the box won't fit, even with a 2" body lift
3. Install the shifter where the gear stick comes out
4. install the Auto Computer - wiring this up to the box, power, brake lights, speedo and the existing jimny ECM (assuming the Jimny ECM for your manual version is compatible)
5. plumb it for cooling etc.
6. modify the rear tranny mount
7. space out the jack shaft

and probably a few other goodies too...

good call pete - and you need to wire in the auto to the starter too (park / neutral signal)..
