A Few Questions

Post by FEZZ »

G`day all, just a few questions I guess you have had before.

Does anyone have or use a soft top on their Feroza, what are they like and are they worth having. I did get a price on OEM soft top, you got to be bloody joking at the price!!! Have a local motor trimmer that could make me one if required....

I wouldn`t mind picking up an inclinometer ? and volt meter for my feroza, would anyone know where I could get them from. (Only for cosmetic reasons ).

I have a slight wine in I guess the gear box or diff, is this a common prob or is it a sign of worse to come. It is most noticeable around sixty to eighty K`s when you back off and idle along. It is not to bad at the moment but can I expect it to get worse???

Thanks Col.....

My gearbox has got a whine too. Mechanic said it's wear related but should last at least a couple more years. Castrol VMX80 made it a lot quieter and could be worth a try. The oil in mine was black- it could be worth checking/ changing yours.

The inclinometer and voltmeter are good for..... cosmetic reasons only! Can't say I would really be looking at my inclinometer when you really need it- would have my eyes fixed on the terrain outside!

Ferozius, you mentioned you picked up a soft top. Is it original part and do you know if their are any more available and yes I have checked oil levels etc, had all oils (gearbox, diffs, transfer case etc) changed about 2 months ago.....Thanks Col.... :)

Col, the VMX80 gearbox oil I mentioned is actually designed for noisy gearboxes. It made mine a lot quieter over the Penrite crap the mechanic had put in, also improved the shifting in cold weather. I'm now running a 50:50 mix of the VMX80 and Dexron II auto trans fluid to completely cure grating problems in cold weather.

Even after changing the gearbox oil for the second time there was still fine black sludge coming out with the oil!

There was a soft top advertised here in SA a while back for $300. I know there was one on Ebay overseas too.

hi, i use a soft top. I got it custom made in maitland, nsw. the guy is Brad's custom trim. he did a great job. he did a custom job. i changed the way the soft top is attached. it is no longer through the channel. it is now through all press studs. it is excellent and he did it at 1/2 the price of all the other quotes i had gotten. i cant recommend t his guy enough. he has also done some other mods to my car. he is good.
