tail shafts

Post by Punchy »

ok i smashed my second rear shaft for the second time today and this is starting to get expensive as i have done this twice in as many months..

THe 75 ute i have is a 1989 unit

The ramp over is my issue i thinks..
33 mud bfg's stock suspension and im stll mashing the shafts..
we went down to ormeau on sunday and went up the water fall track..no dramas there except for some step tread mashing and a small dent and scrap in the passenger lower door...all good..
Went looking for the bum crack and couldn't find it...got lost and all that..

My idea is...could a hilux two piece shaft and center bearing arrangment being installed be a feasiable option here to remove this issue and to stop mashing shafts..

The 75 shaft is about another 12 inches long than a 45 ute shaft and this is somehow where my problem lies...the things near horizontal to the ground..and is interfering with my ramp over..

other possibilities
spring over AND/OR
normal 3' lift AND/OR
35-37 muds AND/OR
OMG i have run out of ideas..

suggestions
45 series ute - 308 -gas -35's- lifted -no flex..But i got air lockers !

I've got a spare rear two piece shaft with centre bearing if you want to come and have a look.

You were meant to be fixing the ute not breaking it :!: :!: :D

but i was so looking forward to gettin some on the bumcrack...
we got lost, and santa tore the lhf spring hanger mount out of his chassis...well in cluding the chasis :P and we then proceeded home..

What happened to cause the spring hanger mishap - too much rust?

Yes...Yes...Yes...Yes....I have all of the above. I still hammer a driveshaft now and then. You can't stop it happening. Even Sam with the mog axles has skid plates surrounding his pinion unis. The more built the truck is, the bigger the stuff is that you drive over. I think that the proportions between vehicle toughness and terrain toughness remain fairly constant.
