Ford Mavericks Identical to Patrol?

Post by BobTheMonkey »

I’m looking at buying a Ford Maverick 91 SWB, I was looking at getting a Nissan Patrol SWB but after contacting the seller of this car I was told it was a Ford Maverick how ever they are just Nissan GQ's re-badge.

Whets the difference in the Ford Maverick compared to the Nissan Patrol of the same year (91?). Some people have been telling me that the Patrol has a LSD where the Ford doesn’t. If they are identical are the parts interchangeable?

Actually some of the Mavericks had different spec (interior) to the nissan as well as different badges.

Also Ford wont sell parts for Maverick anymore they laugh at you adn say to go Missan dealer.

ford will only sell parts with ford written on them, or ford specific. everything else is thru nissan. the same as the nissan ute, only the nissan badges and stuff is thru nissan, the rest is ford xf stuff from ford. at least holden looks after its badge engineered cars!

Thanks for the info guys, yeah i have noticed that the Ford Mav has a lot of "Wank Options" that you wouldn’t really expect from a 4WD imo, eg, power windows and factory sun roof. Although I’m not going to complain about having these, for a fourby that will be hitting a lot more dirt then pavement I would prefer to have less that can go wrong :)

As for ford not standing behind there product, that’s fine with me as I would prefer to deal with Nissan anyways :)

Anyone else have any comments they would like to add in regards to the Mav, any concerns? I have read a bit about the GQ and have found that the early 88/89 models seem to have a few minor problems with inherent week ness’s in them, but it would seem they have been ironed out in the 91+ models.

Do the same factors apply for the Ford Mavs? Is the 91 the same as the 91 patrol.

Thanks for your comments everyone

Those wanky options, the elect windows are in the GQ as well.

Any problems with running gear in the GQ would be in the Mav...

again on my page theres a list of shit to look for www.gqpatrol.com

Yep my Mav has all the extra's although alot stopped working after a few months of hard bush bashing, here's how it went...

Mudflaps all ripped off.

Sum Flares broke. Now all are f@rked

Dinted bottoms of both 1/4's.

Guards dinted, bonnet dinted.

Cracked tailights from outside's of bumpers flexing up into them.

bothy mirrors snapped off from reversing back down a super high hill and i had no choice but to go through some thin tree's where it happened.

Been waterlogged numerous times and i think im the only bloke that has to squeegy his windows from the inside at night from the moisture.

Carpet.Dont ask

Gas meter blew up from water in it.

Passenger window dont work no more but thats not a problem anymore coz it just shattered today and caved in my door a little after a branch smashed it while performing sum stunts.Drivers side window is soon to follow as it hardly works.

Paint now looks like its a giant melway's map with stratches everywhere in ever direction.

Drivelines as strong as an ox and has never ever givin me an ounce of trouble and i cane it hard every weekend.

Some people buy them to use as tow vehicles and such i bought mine to go hard at it thats why its battered but its the best 6g's ive ever spent..
