AIr locker?? do they break??? no drive to front left

Post by crankycruiser »

Well sumthing went bang in the front of the 80 on the weekend.. and i reckon its just a cv or an axel..

But it doesnt make any crunching noises at all. so im a bit worried it might be in the air locker???

Is this a prob that ppl have heard of?? airlockers fallin to bits inside????

I will know tonight once i pull it apart. .but i thought i might jsut see if there is any common probs with the air lockers fallin to bits....

No crunching, Its more likely to be an axle

yeah its prob a nice clean snap along the axle or stub so no reall conflicting parts to make any load noises.

personally i think its about time you broke sumthing in the front of your cruiser :P

i killed a gq air locker and cv in one hit. the carrier was fubar. it is possible, but the cv/axle should be the first to go.

I screwed one off as you described 5000 rpm hi-range second and the left front wheel hit a 3 foot verticle ledge with 37's on and i think something had to let go.

I was gonna say, the 38" Creepies or whatever you're running is probably partly to blame
