Hi Guys,
MY brother in law has come out with my old man and I on a few of our trips (I own a TJ with 32's and my old man owns an MQ with 33's) and he is keen.
He loves the zooks!!!
We are looking at purchasing him a zook - but i wouldnt have the slightest idea on them, and where i should start.
He doesnt care whether hard top or soft top. Manual or automatic (automatic preffered)...
But my main question is, should we be looking at coil springs or leaf springs?
Benefits and drawbacks of both??
He will be doing a lift and what not when he has the money - but there isnt a definate height or size he wants to go to.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Will

Wallace and his "grommit"??? hehehehe
Sorry, someone had to say it
Very few if any automatics in the leaf sprung Sierras. Two main types, narrow track and wide track.
Coily Sierras came with an auto option (IIRC)
Jimny's were definitely available with auto.
Leaf Vs coil??? More available for leaves, coils more exxy to modify both are capable of good articulation. This will most likely turn into a Toyota/Nissan, BFG/Cooper/Maxxis/Procomp/bogger type of debate, no winner, but no loser.

George Carlin, an American Comedian said; "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise that half of them are stupider than that".
I asked the same questions when I looked into getting a Zook.
Coil vs leaf?
I ended up going coil and I'm very glad on this. Coils will give a smoother ride. I was on a track last weekend which had been "corregated", or in other words, was as bumpy as sh!t. I absolutely hated it for the whole 20km and it felt as if my Zuk was going to rattle apart. And to think it would have been worse with leafs.
Work out what it's going to be used for. Mostly road and dirt tracks, or more hardcore stuff.
The coily is capable enough with light mods but with a leafy you can punish that front end more without as much risk of stuff breaking. Far easier to get a lot of lift out of as well.
Daily driver? I'd take coils. Dedicated off road? Leafs.
That's my opinion anyway.
