Anyone built drawers for a 60 series?

going to make up a set of drawers for my new cruiser, anyone made any for your rig? i need some pictures or any info!

um i never built a set for an 60 series but ive helped the old man build his ive seen a few ways of making them

one was to make the draws and tops out of what ever but they used laminated stuff on the floor of the unit and the same on the bottems of the draws so it was one laminated surface sliding on another very easy t slide

but the one i liked was putting some box section on the side of the draws and putting skat board bearing on the unit so the box section went between the skate board bearing and the bearings where just attached with some bolts

basically wood for the unit
alluminium for part of the draws and the top

I have now made two sets one for our disco and one for my 80. In both of these I have Gal sheet folded up for the drawers and screwed form ply into the ends to give strength and somewhere solid to attach handles. You could always spot weld in more gal for the ends. For Runners I use a company called Hafele see their online catalogue http://www.hafele.com.au/isapi/home/default.asp for details of their runners for single extension heavy duty runners 900mm long they charge about $90 pair and they carry 100kgs. For the frame I used 12mm form ply for the verticals and 16mm form for the tops. I have place 400kgs of tiles on the top of the drawers and they have not cracked. I just screwed and glued and joints (no dovetails, finger joints or other fancy crap). I then buy some marine carpet from Bunnings and glue it on all external surfaces to make it look good (hides any mistakes). By using form ply I do not have to paint or seal anything. On the bottom I just use a coulple of strips of 3mm ply so that if the floor gets wet it can still dry out without taking the drawers out. In both sets of drawers I put the fridge on the bottom with one or two drawers beside the fridge. This makes it easy to get stuff out of the fridge (considering my wife is short).

The fridge is ocky strapped down to a piece of ply that is screwed to another set of runners so that it easily slides out. I also cut out a section of the back of the drawers and cover with arc mesh to allow the fridge to ventilate.

The hard part is designing and getting all the measurements right allowing for thickness of ply, runners, etc, etc. A set of drawers usually take me a day to make once I have the basic design and materials
