NISSAN TRIALS 2006

Post by Miss Wendy »

COPY OF INTRO LETTER TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO CLUBS
Dear Fellow Club Members,

Although it seems early days, work has already commenced on the 2006 Nissan Trials.

Last years event was a tough one. The rain played havoc with not only the events but the normally unconscious effort of simply driving from one event to the other took on a trial of it’s own thanks to the heavy rain.

Congratulations to all those who battle through the events last year.
It was unfortunate that the wombats’ could not be run but it was with much deliberation we decided to abandon the event. Consideration went to the freshness of construction and the forecast of many awkward recoveries coupled with the threat of more rain were the deciding factors.

As with last year we will insist on window nets on both drivers and navigators windows. As most of the other 4WD competition events have adopted window nets we do not expect anyone to apply for the exemption to use wrist restraints, however this option is still in place and must be applied for in writing to me before the application cut off date.

The introduction of the florescent pink flags for the marshals was not grasped well by some. Some thought pink should not be involved in a hard-core competition, but with all the colours of club shirts these days, what was going to standout more. And so these will return this year and will be waved at the driver and navigator after the appropriate count to indicate the end of the attempt on that event. If the vehicle continues the attempt, penalties will be issued. No excuses you weren’t aware of the count out, floro pink stands out like proverbial…

We will be implementing a type of selection criteria yet to be defined that will have a number of places reserved for our loyal clubs competitors and a number of places made available for newly formed clubs to kick start them into the world of 4WD competition. Hopefully this will prevent some of our long time devoted competitors from missing out on a place.

The cut off date for applications this year is Friday the 13th of October. That has been extended from last year with the addition to the rule that there will be no alterations to the competition teams after the Wednesday prior the event. There were so many team changes last year that it was impossible to update forms and consequently the scoring and the PA guy suffered.

Good luck to all of you in the selection process and look I forward to seeing you at the 2006 Nissan Trials

Comments are most welcome and can be directed to the Trials Manager via our website or by phone or mail. All correspondence will be presented to the Trials committee for consideration.

PS. I have had a computor crash and lost my contacts. Pls don't hesitate to update me on your prefered contact.
