Jimny engine G13BB needed in Sydney

Post by munecito »

Hello guys.

I need a Jimny engine (G13BB).

Where can I get one at a good price? Better if it is in Sydney.

I got quoted $2300 for one but I think it is a little bit pricey. Any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

Will

PS: I put an ad in the Wanted section, but this one is not a wanted but a "Help. Directions needed" post

he has tons of jimny engines and is really good on the freight..

im sure you would get it to your door for less than the quoted price.

I think they have different bolt pattern for the gearbox. We want to keep the automatic gearbox without doing any modifications.

from my knowledge, The G13 series can take on the same gearbox coz they have same bellhousing bolting. However, the new jimny with the M10A?? wouldn't fit. I don't know if the BB is just a up grade from the B, just know its usually in the jimny.

From my understanding you need to have an adaptor plate for the jimny engine to bolt up to the G13A gearbox, as the jimny's have a diff. gearbox to the leaf sierras. However, would you need an adaptor plate for a G13BA (coily) gearbox, ive been told you do?

Whats the normal going price for jimny engines (complete with loom etc) these days? Are there any of the new M10A engines floating around yet?

Cheers

I need the engine to replace the one currently in the Jimny.

The G13BB is an evolution of the G13A G13B and G13BA used in sierras. It is 16 valves injected. Our jimny is an auto.

Only the G13A and G13BA (8V) engines were used in the Sierra, the G13B (16V) was used in the Swift GTi.

are you talking you need a adaptor plate for the m13a? if so you are correct.
the g13bb is identicle to a g13a/b block.. you do not need a adaptor plate to fit a sierra box to it.
as for the sj80/ coily box it is the same pattern as a sj70/ leaf.

a 13bb was available in jap spec sierras/ jimnys.
it was as podge said never available in sierras in aus.

jimny engine the g13bb doesnt need any modifications to anything when fitting into a sierra, eg: no bell housing adapter, no engine mounts no dizzy adapter etc. i pulled the old engine out, and put the new one in, in one day and had everything bolted back together.

you will need the jimny heater hose. if looking at the engine from the front looking towards the back, the heater hose you need to change is the one on the right(passenger side) that leads into the cabin.

the m13a wont adapt to the standard gearbox as it is different bolt pattern.

the g13bb is not an upgrade from the g13bb as it makes less power.
it still has 16valves like the gti but doesnt have twin cam.
the jimny makes 60kw and 110nm whereas the gti makes 73kw.

you can use the jimny starter, clutch and flywheel like i have, but you dont have to, you can use the standard sierra parts.

Be carefull when putting the engine in as the inlet manifold comes very close to the brakes lines, all you need to do is just bend them more down.

munecito:, i got mine from a local wreckers, had front end damage, so i couldnt use the clutch fan off it, but luckily, i could use the old sierra fan with some spacer(to clear the double pulleys).

the jimny radiator hoses(top and bottom) fit perfect,

no need to change any fuel lines, just find which is fuel in and fuel return, and plug em in. Make sure you change the old stupid hose clamps to proper screwdriver ones.

i havnt figured out tacho and engine temp yet, so hopefully mark can point me in the right direction
;)

the engine doesnt hit on the bonnet, but i have a 2 inch body lift.
i had use the jimny airbox.
The left hand side of the engine bay is

battery
fuse box
airbox, and the jimny hose fits perfect from the airbox to the inlet, and you can just plug the pcv valve in and also the AIT(air inlet temp) in aswell.

simple to wire up, as long as the loom is uncut, i couldnt figure it out for ages, but got a ecu diagram, and pretty much pluged the wires in and she was away.

any other questions?

i will try and get some pics

dude you should change the lines to efi hose... the normal fuel hose will bust. also if your fuel pump is before your filter you will need to change the fuel filter to a high pressure type..

as for the tacho you need to swap the tacho from the jimny into your wt.. it reads a different signal to the wt type. it is still the brown wire to be used..

temp is just your normal temp wire..

The old one has a problem with the crankshaft according to the mechanic. My plans are simple. Keeping it, recondition it at some stage and chuck under the sierra´s bonnet.

alright, just to clear my head. G13bb are 1.3L injected 16V. They were fitted to jap sierras and jimnys, but never available in aus. So wats the most likely efi jimny/sierra engine im likely to encounter at a wreckers, g13 or m13?

Thanks guys, this is serving as a real help, ive been throwing this idea up for a while now.

You will find the G13BB in Australian Jimnys from 98 to 2000.

After that they are all M13A.

I would love to get the M13A. Rod in QLD offer us one fully installed for $3K, but we are to far away :(

Anyway, we have done some calls and still chasing one. We have some good quotes.

Have you rung Sam Keck at Overkill ? He sourced my M13A at a reasonable price. I did have to get the gearbox aswell.

For a 1.3 it is fairly punchy

Just the engine with 3 months warranty.

We have to send them the old engine as part of the deal.

Now I´m thinking in getting a M13A for the sierra when the engine blows up but I don´t know if the 5 speed jimny gearbox can be fitted to the sierra. My guess is with some modifications it will fit.

The place we are getting it from is:

Modie ‘s VIC
